Eugene Marathon 035
Mile 2. One of Eugene's more "colorful" houses. Character is not something Eugene is in short supply of.
Eugene Marathon 032
Roy found an R2D2 mailbox on the U of O campus as we made our way to the start line. Yes, I take my camera with me. LOL!
Eugene Marathon 030
Carbo load dinner at the expo. I'm talking with an older man who is one of the 50 Staters. He had only six states left to go until he'd run in all 50 plus DC.
Eugene Marathon 029
Me with Jared Fogle at the expo. I told him I lost weight too and he said that I looked great. He doesn't look too shabby himself!
Eugene Marathon 024
Posing in front of Hayward Field. It was so cool to be at this place I've read so much about. Prefontaine stuff was EVERYWHERE.
Eugene Marathon 009
Running outfit! I got the skirt because the running skirt I brought had pink on it and didn't match the shirt. This is very important to running the marathon, you know!
Eugene Marathon 008
Old Nikes from the "good old days" of the U of Oregon. These weren't made with "the" waffle iron, but were the waffle pattern that Bill Bowerman "invented" with his waffle iron. The shoes were made to last only one run, originally.
Eugene Marathon 004
Of course we found a Starbucks close to the hotel! Yay! We had bagels and coffee for breakfast before heading to the marathon expo.
Eugene Marathon Hotel 1
Posing in front of our classy hotel! The people were VERY nice, though. It was just like it was straight out of the 60s, however.
Our sleazy hotel
We arrived in Eugene at midnight. My idea was to hit an all night diner and drink coffee until morning. Roy remembered that we are no longer 20 years old and booked a motel room in a rather dodgy looking place. He didn't tell me until we arrived and boy was I relieved to be heading to a bed and not a diner!

Finishing Times!
Apparently we caused quite a to-do with Tony from Always Running. I'm not sure what it was, but at this point we were numbers four and five (that changed as later waves came in) in the Masters Group. For some reason Tony (a personal trainer and coach) thought HIS group came in before us and was making a HUGE issue. Come on! It's not like it was a Boston qualifier! Sheesh!
I really want to do this one again next year, maybe even do the 50k.
Almost all the Racy Girls
Susan was off meeting her friend who ran the 50k and Brooke had to go home, but this was most of us after the race.
Tina after leg six
She hardly looks like she broke a sweat! She's talking to Dana who was on the other Racy Girls team (we were Racy Girls Too).
Team One
We had two teams. Team one is across the way, or at least some of them! Lisa, Theresa, and Ann. (Ann works for Starbucks. I like Ann.)
Waiting to head out onto leg seven
About 2 min later it started to pour! Vinette loaned me her rain jacket (mine was back at the SUV) and I took off. I felt horrible, but for some reason the pain subsided for the first five or so miles and the run was really nice. By the time I finished, it was sunny and warm and I'd taken off the jacket and the shirt and was down to a tank top.
Running with Bears
Um, no one mentioned this to me! I gave my camera to Vinette to take pictures while I was on the run, and apparently this was one of the pictures! Eep!
Running in after leg four of the Mt. Si Relay
For some reason I thought leg four was 4.6 miles, but it was really 5.7! Not a big deal, but imagine my surprise when I figured it was going to be done at any time! Oh well.
You can hardly tell I feel like complete crap.

Beautiful-trail
Here's the trail ahead of me. I brought my camera to snap pictures and only a few were clear (since I was running at the time, and trying not to fall down). This one is good, though! A pretty open clearing. Most of the race was much closer.

Sunken Garden
This was your basic limestone mine when Mrs. Butchart decided to take lemons (or in this case, a big ugly hole) and make lemonade.
